Description

This postcard is a reproduction of a photograph of President Abraham Lincoln and his youngest son, Tad, taken of them on February 5, 1856, in Washington, D. C. The background landscape was added for artistic effect. The caption is slightly erroneous in that President Lincoln sat for a different photographer on March 6, 1865, on the White House balcony. But this photograph is from the last time that the president sat for photographer Alexander Gardner. The postcard reverse is divided.
