Description

These etchings are political cartoons by Adalbert Volck, a Southern sympathizer living in Baltimore, Maryland, during the United States Civil War. The cartoon to the viewer's left, one of the Confederate War Etchings series, depicts several men riding horses returning from a raid to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in October of 1862. The man on the left is blowing a horn. The man in the middle is pointing to the left. There is a fence with several trees in the background and a body of water in the foreground. The number 33 appears above the upper left corner of the etching. The number 33 appears above the upper left corner of the etching.
