Description

This print is a reproduction of a hand-colored lithograph of the Emancipation Proclamation published in 1864 by F. S. Butler. The top of the print reads, "President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation," printed in large ornate letters with an American flag between the words "Lincoln's" and "Emancipation." The text of the proclamation is printed in script. Lincoln's signature appears in the bottom right corner of the print. The bottom left corner reads, "Executed and published by F. S. Butler, 1864," while the bottom right corner under Lincoln's signature reads, "Printed by L. Nigel." The title "Emancipation Proclamation Signed by President Lincoln - Designed by a 14-Year Old Boy" is printed below the image, with further publication information below that.
