Description

This color print features the city of Louisville as it appeared in 1872. The foreground shows the bank alongside a river, with a boat up on the bank and a dock with a small wooden shack at the end of the bridge. The foreground contains trees as well as shrubbery. A tall railroad bridge crosses over the river, with two trains shown heading in opposite directions. A steam boat glides on the water while the city itself is seen at a distance in the background through the supports of the bridge. Publication information appears along the bottom of the image, with "City of Louisville" printed in larger letters below.
