Description

This colored lithograph depicts an interior scene, the "New England Kitchen" at the 1864 Brooklyn Sanitary Fair. The room is filled with women dressed in hoop skirts and bonnets gathered around long banquet tables set with food and drinks. One woman tends to a fire in a large brick oven in the center of the image while a small group of women cluster around a spinning wheel on the left side. A few men are visible in the scene.
