Description

This gray-toned print is a portrait of Andrew Johnson set in a square frame within the print. He is shown in a three-quarter profile and faces PR. He wears a black suit, black vest, white collared shirt, and black bowtie. Two of the buttons on his vest and one button on his suit jacket are visible. The artist used loose and sketch-like strokes and filled in some of the dead space behind Johnson with black shadow. In the far bottom PL corner, Andrew Johnson's name is written in a cursive script. Beneath the square frame is the title of the piece, "Andrew Johnson," in block font and below that is another line of cursive script that reads, "President of the United States of America".
