Description

This lithograph is an oval-shaped, head and shoulders portrait of Robert Toombs. He faces to the PR side and wears a dark suit jacket, a white shirt, and a dark bowtie. His white shirt collar extends above his bowtie. He has a stern look on his face, and his hair is parted on the PL side. Beneath him is the title of the piece, "R. Toombs," in a loose cursive script and below this is a subtitle of, "U.S. Senator from Georgia". To the PL of the title is written, "S.W. Chandler & Bro. Lith. Boston," and to the PR of the title is written, "Daguerreotype by Vannerson". The artist's signature, L. Grozelier, is located to the PR of the image of Toombs and is in cursive script.
