Description

This replica bust depicts a beardless Abraham Lincoln originally sculpted by Leonard Wells Volk after Lincoln sat for him in April, 1860. Lincoln's shoulders are covered with a Greco-Roman draping. This sculpture is finished in white, resembling the classical Roman sculptures of marble. On the reverse of the bust is a small oval bronze colored stamp that reads, "P.P. Caproni & Bros. Plastic Arts Boston Massachusetts." For more information on Volk sculpture see Lincoln Lore issue number 731, April 12, 1943.
