Description
This cacheted cover commemorates the dedication of a bronze Lincoln Memorial Plaque in New York City on February 19, 1941. On the left half of the envelope, the cachet features a small reproduction of the plaque placed by the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society. The title printed in red ink above the cachet reads "Commemorating the Dedication of a Bronze Lincoln Memorial Plaque February 19, 1941." The caption printed in red ink below the cachet is "On the Parcel Post Building in New York City Occupying the Site of the Old 30th Street Depot." A postmark reading "New York, N.Y. Feb 19, 1941, 3 PM" is stamped on the upper center of the envelope. The envelope is addressed to Lincoln Nat'l Life Foundation, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tucked inside the envelope is a stone-colored folder which contains explanatory text by Theodore S. Charrney on Lincoln being the first person to use the new depot.
