Description

This print features a features a head and shoulders portrait of Abraham Lincoln enlarged from a photograph taken of him on February 27, 1860, in New York. The original photograph used was from the collection of Oliver R. Barrett, an attorney in Illinois. Beardless, Lincoln posed facing the viewer and wearing a black coat and vest with a white collared shirt and black bow tie. '"The Picture that made me President": - Abraham Lincoln' is printed below the image, with the following just below that: "FROM the original photography by M.B. Brady, in the collection of Oliver R. Barrett, and was reproduced by courtesy of the owner. This picture was taken February 27th. 1860, at the time of the famous Cooper Union speech in New York and was the one used on buttons, badges and banners in the Presidential campaign of 1860."
