Description

This linen postcard features the original Smithsonian Institution building in Washington, D.C. Completed in 1855, the red sandstone building known as "The Castle" stands among trees and walking paths, with an American flag atop its highest tower. The bronze statue of Joseph Henry is seen in the lower left corner of the image. A white border surrounds the whole image. The number 8388 is printed in the lower right corner of the border.
