Description

This gravure postcard features the "Standing Lincoln" statue of President Abraham Lincoln, done by sculptor Daniel Chester French located at Chesterwood, his home in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. This statue was the sculptor's bronze working model for the bronze statue he did for the grounds of the Nebraska State Capitol which was unveiled in 1912. President Lincoln is depicted standing with his left knee slightly bent and with his head turned downward and his left hand gripped in his right hand. The postcard reverse is divided. The caption is printed on the left side. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
