Description

This print features President Harry S. Truman's proclamation that the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address be celebrated on November 19, 1946, as Dedication Day and by the "reading of the address in public assemblages throughout the United States and its possessions, on our ships at sea, and wherever the American flag flies." Above the text of the proclamation on a red background are the title and a reproduction of M. Leone Bracker's charcoal drawing of Lincoln giving the Gettysburg Address. Below the text is a facsimile of the Bliss copy of the Gettysburg Address on two pages. The publisher's information is placed on the lower edge of the poster.
