Handwritten endorsements on the back of a fragment of a letter from Clayton F. Becker, 20 cm. James Speed writes: 'I know Mr. Becker & he is a truly loyal man. The neighbours of Mr. Vick being willing for his return, I would be glad to have him discharged.' H. Grider writes: 'This case is from my district & the release ought to be granted.' Lincoln writes: 'Let the man take the oath of Dec. 8, 1863 & be discharged.'
