- Handwritten letter, 28 cm, dated 'H'dQrs: Petersburg 26th Sept '64.' Marked 'Confidential' in a different hand. Confederate General Lee begins his letter with 'I cannot impress upon you too strongly the imperious necessity of getting all our men subject to mil. duty to the field.' He goes on to make suggestions about recruiting and that Gen. Whiting is also in need of help. Envelope, 8 x 14 dm, is addressed (in the same hand as the 'Confidential' notation) to Gen. Braxton Bragg in Richmond, Va.
