Description

This is a set of six posters each of which depicts an incident in the life of United States President Abraham Lincoln. The images on the posters are reproductions of paintings by artist Louis Bonhajo. In addition to the images, each poster has a title and a paragraph of explanatory text below in the lower margin. Two of the posters have a quotation from one of Lincoln's speeches. The posters are bound together at the top with a black metal band which can be opened to allow the posters to be separated. Also bound in with the posters is a heavy paper tab with a hole so the set can be hung as a unit. The poster titles include: Signing the Emancipation Proclamation; Lincoln, the boy, and the Farm Youth of Today; Flat Boat to New Orleans--1828; Lincoln with His Son Tad; Lincoln Visits Grant, 1865; and Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D. C. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
