Description

This color poster done from a painting by Louis Bonhajo features a young Abraham Lincoln in a flat boat on a river and holding onto an oar. Another young man is seated near the front of the boat also holding an oar. The boat appears to be loaded with various items. A paragraph of text about farmers needing the flatboats to take their produce to the markets in the larger cities is in the lower margin below the image. A quotation about agriculture from Lincoln's speech given on September 30, 1859, is in the top margin above the image.
