Description
This color poster done from a painting by Louis Bonhajo features President Abraham Lincoln seated at a desk writing his signature on the document known as the Emancipation Proclamation. His left hand rests on the lower left corner of the page while he holds the ink pen in his right hand. A red drape behind Lincoln's left shoulder partially covers a window through which colorful foliage can be seen. Below the image is the title and a paragraph of explanatory text about Lincoln reading the document to his cabinet on September 22, 1862.
