My dear Sir:
I would most respectfully request that the Hartford to be sent to the Boston Navy Yard on her arrival from the So. Atlantic Station, for such repairs as are necessary. This yard is almost without business, and has for the last few years, hardly had its share of the work of the Navy considering its accommodation and outfit. I trust the mechanics of Massachusetts will be considered in this matter and that the repairing of the Hartford will be placed in their hands.
Resp’y & Truly Yours
