Description

This print features a bearded President-elect Abraham Lincoln working while posing for sculptor, Thomas D. Jones. Lincoln is seated with a pencil in his right hand and holding documents in his left hand. On a table to Lincoln's right is the bust in progress. Jones, the sculptor, stands on the opposite side of the bust.. Lincoln's hat has been placed upside down on the little table to Lincoln's left and has envelopes sticking out of it. Lincoln's shawl is placed just behind his hat. The text below the image reads "Abraham Lincoln poses in the St. Nicholas Hotel in Springfield, Illinois, for Sculptor Thomas D. Jones of Cincinnati. Jones modeled the President-Elect from late December, 1860 to February, 1861. This is a duplicate of item number 71.2009.081.1173.
