Description
This drawing is a political cartoon that depicts President Abraham Lincoln whispering into the ear of President Richard Nixon. Nixon has sweat dripping from his brow and holds in his hands a map of the United States being torn apart by the conflicts going on within the country expressed with various words and phrases: "Hawks vs. Doves," "Riots," "Protests," "Strikes," "Crime," "Racial Strife," and "Integration Tensions." In the center of the map in bold print is written "Internal Disunity." The artist signed the drawing in the lower right corner, along with the year. "(Thursday, Feb. 12)" is handwritten in blue pencil in the top left corner. The title is also written in blue pencil in the upper margin. "66" is written in blue pencil and circled along the right edge. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
