Description

This poster features a large head and shoulders portrait of Abraham Lincoln and is an advertisement for the latest issue of the magazine "Liberty: A Weekly for Everybody." A red banner across the top announces that the issue is "Out Today." The portrait, framed in an oval gold-colored border, is from a photograph of Lincoln taken by Alexander Hesler in Chicago in 1857. A facsimile signature is printed to the viewer's right of the portrait in the lower corner. The Liberty Magazine featured contributions from some of the biggest politicians, celebrities, authors, and artists of the 20th Century. The contents of the magazine provided a unique look into popular culture, politics, and world events from the Roaring 20s through the Great Depression, World War II, and Post-War America.
