Description

This woodcut from the December 12, 1860, issue of Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper illustrates the office of Abraham Lincoln's first law partnership with John Todd Stuart in 1837. The office was located at Hoffman's Row, Third Division, Upstairs, Springfield, Illinois. This engraving was made in 1860 when the artist visited the office.
