Description

This engraving done from a photograph taken by J. M. Hewitt features the estate of statesman Henry Clay located in Lexington, Kentucky. The mansion is depicted surrounded by trees with two women on the steps of the main entrance, a dog lying in the yard, and two cows at the corner of the house to the viewer's left . In the lower margin is a head only portrait of Henry Clay in the center above the title. Two small illustrations can be seen on either side of the title.
