Description

This engraving by Robert Whitechurch, done from a painting by Christian Schussele, features President Lincoln and his Cabinet in 1861 with General Winfield Scott. Cabinet members depicted sitting around a large table are (from viewer's left): Edward Bates, William Seward, Salmon Chase, Caleb B. Smith, and Simon Cameron.
