Description

This English lithograph features a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln done after a photograph taken of him on February 27, 1860, in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is shown wearing a dark coat and bow tie. To update the image to show Lincoln as he looked in 1865, the lithographer added the beard. The background is cropped to an oval surrounded by a lighter oval border. The printed artist's signature appears on Lincoln's right lapel. The publisher's information is just below the image. The title is printed in the lower margin: "Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of America, Assassinated by J. Wilkes Booth, April 14th, 1865." This print is part of the collection of Abraham Lincoln portraits published in countries outside of the United States.
