Description

This sepia-toned postcard features an illustration of a Abraham Lincoln's birthplace log cabin next to the White House. Below the illustrations is a quotation from a letter to the editor of the Sangamo Journal dated June 13, 1836, written by Lincoln during his campaign for a seat in the Illinois legislature. It reads: "I go for all sharing the privilege of the government who assist in bearing its burdens. Consequently, I go for admitting all to the right of suffrage who pay taxes or bear arms; by no means excluding women." The postcard reverse is divided.
