Description

This gravure print features a head and shoulders portrait of a beardless Abraham Lincoln done from a photograph taken of him on June 3, 1860, in Springfield, Illinois. He posed turned slightly toward the viewer's right with his head turned further toward the viewer's right. Lincoln wore a black coat and vest with a white button-down collared shirt and black bow tie. His eyeglasses cord is visible resting diagonally across his chest.. Lincoln sits in front of a dark background, though the area around his left shoulder and arm is slightly lighter in color than the rest of the background. "Gravure Andersen-Lamb, N.Y." is printed beneath the lower left corner of the image. A facsimile of Lincoln's signature appears below the image.
