Description

This postcard features the heroic-sized marble statue of President Abraham Lincoln done by sculptor Lot Flannery in 1868. Located in front of City Hall in Washington, D. C., President Lincoln is depicted standing wearing a long coat with a bow tie and waistcoat. His left hand rests on a fasces while his right arm is by his side. Lincoln's partially open right hand points to the ground as he looks toward his left. A man standing in front of a horse which is hooked to a wagon or carriage is seen beside the statue. The caption is printed along the lower edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided. A quotation from the end of Abraham Lincoln's speech at Cooper Union in New York on February 27, 1860, is printed on the left side.
