Description

This print is a color reproduction of a painting done by artist Fletcher Ransom in 1931 for the Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway Company which had commissioned him to paint a series on the life of Abraham Lincoln to be used as calendar art. The print features the Springfield, Illinois, home of the Abraham Lincoln family. The two-story home is shown painted a cream color with green shutters on all the windows and with a wrap-around porch with a rail and steps leading down to the street level. The artist portrayed an autumn setting with the leaves on the trees and bushes surrounding the house turned to reds and golds. A tall flag pole rises from the front corner of the porch. At the center of the lower edge of the print is a printed plate with the title of the piece. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
