Description

This engraving presents the Emancipation Proclamation and the fifteenth Amendment along with six portraits. The largest two portraits are of Lincoln and Grant. There four smaller portraits in the corners are of William Lloyd Garrison, Thaddeus Stevens, R.R. Revels, and General O.O. Howard. The scene illustrated in the center of the print is of the celebration of the ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment by the states. To the left of the Lincoln portrait of the left is the text of the Emancipation Proclamation. To the right of the Lincoln portrait is information about Thaddeus Stevens, the author of the Fifteenth Amendment resolution.
