Handwritten letter, 22 cm, headed Paris (Kentucky), dated 20th Sept. 1861, and signed Garrett Davis. Davis makes a brief recommendation of Kentucky circuit court judge Will C. Goodloe for a position as a district judge, reminding Lincoln that he had done the same in a previous letter. He then recommends at length appellate court judge James Simpson. Autograph letter signed (ALS).
