Description

This tinted postcard features the Lincoln Speech Memorial located in Gettysburg Military National Park at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The memorial includes a bust of President Abraham Lincoln done by sculptor Henry K. Bush-Brown and two bronze text panels, one on each side of the bust. The panel on the left displays the text of the letter written by Judge David Wills to President Lincoln inviting him to speak at the dedication ceremony of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg on November 19, 1863. The panel to the right of the bust displays the text of the speech given by President Lincoln at the dedication. The image is surrounded by a white border with the caption printed in the top margin. The postcard reverse is divided. Narrative text is printed on the left side. Also on the left side is a handwritten note in black ink from from E.J.P. to Mrs. A. P. Palmer of East Orange, New Jersey. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, postmark is dated April 8, 1926. The number 102529 is printed along the bottom edge near the middle.
