Description:
Handwritten, undated letter, 19 cm, signed 'G.H. Dallas.' Addressed on verso to 'His exc James K. Polk, &c, &c, &c.' Probably a hand-delivered note stating that Mr. Ingersoll was in his apartment and asking for a short conversation. Polk apparently returned the note by bearer after writing in pencil at the bottom of the note: 'I will be pleased to see Mr. Ingersoll. I am alone in Mrs. Polk's parlour. Will you invite him to come there?' and signed 'J.K. Polk.'
