- Clipping from newspaper, 31 cm, reviewing the case against Mary Todd Lincoln, describing cruel criticism of her odd behavior, and imploring readers to be sympathetic. The article closes by noting that "The safest rule is never to pass judgment upon the testimony offered by appearances which may be explained, or suspicions which reflection will suggest are unreasonable...From out of the tomb of Abraham Lincoln at Springfield, as from out the cell of Abraham Lincoln's widow at Batavia, comes to the whole world the lesson of 'charity for all, malice toward none.'"
