Description

This poster is a reproduction of the original painting by Norman Rockwell for the 1942 Boy Scouts of America calendar. It features a boy in his Scout uniform, hat held in his right hand and bag at his feet, standing in front of black and white images of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington who holds a copy of the Bill of Rights document in his right hand. in the upper corner to the viewer's left is the end of an American flag with an eagle beneath with its wings spread. In the lower corner to the viewer's right is a shield with the title "A Scout Is Loyal" and the text of the second Scout law. The artist's name is printed in red ink below the shield. The title of the poster is printed on the black border above the image. The publisher's name and location are printed in the lower margin. This poster is an example of the use of the Lincoln name and/or image to promote positive feelings toward a business or an organization.
