Description

This postcard features a nighttime view of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., built to honor Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States. Dedicated in 1922, the building, constructed in the form of a Greek Doric temple, stands opposite of the Washington Memorial on the western end of the National Mall. In this view, the reflection of the building is seen in the reflecting pool at night due to electrical illumination. The entire image is surrounded by a white border with the caption printed in the bottom margin. The postcard reverse is divided. Narrative text is printed on the left side. The number R-88952 is printed along the top edge near the middle. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
