Description

This tinted postcard features a view the Lincoln Memorial statue of President Abraham Lincoln, done by sculptor Daniel Chester French, located in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is depicted seated in a large stately chair with a large United States flag draped over the back of the chair. Each arm is resting on the chair. His head is tilted slightly downward as if deep in thought. The statue rests on a ten-foot high pedestal. The inscription high on the wall behind the statue reads "In this temple as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever." A white border surrounds the image with the caption printed in the top margin. The postcard reverse is divided. The number R-88954 is printed along the top edge near the middle.
