Description

This print features a beardless Abraham Lincoln seated very slightly at a three quarter view with his head directed toward the viewer. Lincoln wears a dark jacket and vest along with a white collared shirt and black bow tie. The left side of the portrait is mostly shaded darkly to implement shadow, while the right side is lighter in color. The top, left, and bottom edges have a dark blue border. The artist's signature, "Kessberger" is in the bottom right corner. The following is written in pen on the reverse side: Oct. 9, 1926. Springfield, Ill Photograph of portrait of Abraham Lincoln by Wright, owned by Wm. Payne, Springfield. Mrs. Lincoln considered this portrait the best model of her husband of that period. Presented to O. L. Schmidt by A. W. Kessberger Photographer
