Description

This lithograph features on one side of the front at the viewer's left the printed text of President Abraham Lincoln's speech delivered at the dedication ceremony for the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on November 19, 1863. On the viewer's right is a lithograph done from a painting by Robert Fawcett of President Lincoln standing with his hat on the ground and holding a small paper in his hands. The background behind the President consists of a reproduction of a handwritten copy of the speech. On the back side of the print to the viewer's left is a paragraph of explanatory text and the publisher's information as well as the credits. To the viewer's right is a reproduction of Lincoln's first draft of the speech with the part he wrote while still in Washington, D. C., in ink and the part that he finished while staying the night at the David Wills house in Gettysburg in pencil.
