Description
This color print is a duplicate of 71.2009.081.1356. It features the presidents of the United States from George Washington to Abraham Lincoln in circular portraits that frame a large ovalular image of Lady Liberty. The presidents are placed in chronological order, beginning with George Washington in the center at the top of the oval. The next president, John Adams, is on the PR of Washington, but the third president, Thomas Jefferson, is on the PL of Washington. It proceeds in this manner until Lincoln, who is in the center bottom of the oval. President Lincoln is shown beardless as he was at the time of his election in November of 1860. In the center image, Lady Liberty wears the stars and stripes of the American flag on her garment and holds a shield and staff. There is an eagle to the PR that holds arrows and olive branches as well as a banner in its mouth that states, "E Pluribus Unum". Behind Lady Liberty is evidence of industry and government with the boat in water and white marbled government building.
