The illuminated text is framed by an embossed decorative floral border. At the top center of the frame is a head and shoulders portrait of President Lincoln within an embossed old gold-colored oval frame. An embossed eagle is on either side of the portrait. Below the eagle on the viewer's left is an illustration of Lincoln's birthplace cabin with the year 1809 beneath. Below the eagle on the viewer's right is an illustration of the Capitol Building in Washington, D. C. with the date 1865 beneath. At the end of the text in the center of the embossed frame is an illustration of President Lincoln giving his address at the cemetery dedication. The portraitist's name, A. E. Hilton, and the designer's name, J. R. Rosen, are printed below the illustration. The publisher's information is embossed in the top left corner of the margin.
