Description:
Handwritten letter, 25 cm, dated 'Johnson's Island, Ohio, April 20th 1865' and headed 'Dear Sir.' The author is possibly Confederate soldier John Williams, a 2nd Lieutenant in the 50th Tennessee regiment who was captured at Ft. Donaldson. Williams responds to a letter from the 9th and says that his family is in good health according to the last letter he had from home. He then discusses his shock and horror at the assassination of President Lincoln.
