Description

This half-tone engraving depicts a father teaching his son to plough the field. The young boy is gripping the handles of the plough while his father stands slightly behind him with his left hand on the son's shoulder and his right hand extended forward. Both are dressed in work shirts and pants with bibs tied around the waist. Both are barefooted and have the legs of the their pants rolled up. A hill and a few buildings are shown in the distant background. This print is part of the Lincoln Art Series published by John Piersol McCaskey of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to be used in schools and homes.
