Description

This etching is a head and shoulders profile portrait of President-elect Abraham Lincoln done from a photograph taken of him on February 9, 1861, in Springfield, Illinois, just two days before he began his inaugural train trip to Washington, D. C. He is shown in a black coat and bow tie. The artist's signature is printed on the right lapel of Lincoln's coat in the etching.
