Description
This color engraving features a large arch shape with the phrases "Sixth Commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and "Our Lord and Our Country" above the three portraits of Presidents Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and James A. Garfield, respectively, at the top of the print. Beneath the portraits on a white curtain is the text of the Lord's Prayer and an image of an angel and cherubs sprinkling flowers on the earth. Beneath this is a portrait of President Chester A. Arthur with two American flags. Decorative panels surrounding the above described text and images contain various information and national statistics such as the prominent religious sects in the U. S., the number of schools and students enrolled, the national population, agricultural statistics, import and export numbers, and the amount of the national debt in 1882. There are floral decorations in the corners and scattered throughout the print, and in the lower margin is the text, "Dedicated to the Memory of the Father of his Country and our two Martyred Presidents."
