Description
This gray-toned print features oval-shaped portraits of the first eighteen presidents of the United States. They are arranged in rings around the center rectangular image that is titled, "The Declaration of Independence." In this image, there are numerous men seated indoors around tables wearing traditional clothes of the time period. Five men stand in the middle ground on the PL side in front of a table that has one man seated close to the foreground. In the background of the image, there are curtains, windows, and an elaborate wall piece with drums, trumpets, and flags that is located in the center of the wall. George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson's portraits are directly above this scene. Above Washington's portrait is an image of the eagle with six American flags behind it. Each president's portrait has his name in script printed underneath the image. There is a flowery, decorative filler element around the portraits. The title, "Centennial Exposition of American Presidents" is printed in a decorative font in the bottom margin.
