Description

This engraving done from a photograph taken of Abraham Lincoln on June 3, 1860, features a beardless Lincoln positioned at a three quarter view looking almost entirely to his left. His left eye is barely visible, and none of the left side of his head can be seen. Lincoln wears a dark jacket and vest, along with a white button-down collared shirt and black bow tie. His eyeglasses chain descends down from the right collar of the shirt to the left inside of the vest. Lincoln sits in front of a gray background. The portrait is inside an oval, which is then inside a larger, black rectangle. The artist's signature and location of creation are written in the bottom right corner of the rectangle: "R J McFee Co. CIN" The word "Copyrighted" is written in the bottom left corner. A facsimile of Lincoln's signature appears below the image.
