Letter, 25 cm, written and signed by Miss C.N. of Washington County, Pennsylvania. She writes asking Lincoln to grant her fiance, A.D.G., private in the Co. __ of the 140th Regiment, P. vol., 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army corps, Army of the Potomac, leave so that he may return home and they can marry (having 'indulged too freely in matrimonial affairs.') On the verso Lincoln writes 'Send him to her by all means' dated April 14, 1864. Possibly a file copy with endorsement in the hand of a secretary.
