Description

This postcard is a photograph of a Lincoln Memorial in Alliance, Ohio. The memorial consists of a bronze tablet mounted on a pedestal made from stone acquired from the Lincoln Farm in Kentucky. The tablet is shaped to look like a log cabin with a right profile portrait of President Lincoln in the center. The memorial marks the place where President-elect Abraham Lincoln stopped briefly on February 15, 1861, on his way to Washington, D. C. for his inauguration. The postcard reverse is divided and has the caption and narrative text printed on the left side. A handwritten note in blue ink from Bob to Alice O'Reilly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is also on the left side. The Youngstown, Ohio, postmark is dated April, 1992.
